Copying report details from a lab report to another

Copying from previous lab reports has come to the system!  You can now utilize other lab reports as a starting point. This new feature allows you to search across other existing lab reports to find the one you would like to use. Once selected the contains of the copied report will be editable for the user to allow them to adjust based on the new report. Below is a screenshot with this newly added button.

Clicking on this button will show you a window to allow you to see other lab reports within the system. You can use the filters provided to locate the report and clicking the "select" link will start the copy process. The next step will display the options for copying over the previous report's details. Once confirmed, you will see these details updated within the report you are working with.

Why This Change Matters:

  • Reuse previous data - Allows the user to reuse a previous report for a better starting point
  • Streamlined reporting - No longer do you need to open the report then copy and go back and paste - this

QR Code Scanning for Daily Breaks

Specimen labels now include QR codes that allow rapid navigation to daily break records using a barcode scanner. From the daily breaks page, you can print out a "command" QR code to put on your break machine to start the process. Simply scan the command code and a window will display that will allow you search. Next, scan the specimen label to instantly jump to that record in the daily breaks with automatic date and lab selection.

NOTE: You do not need to be on the daily breaks page to start this process - anywhere in the site this "command" code will work. QR codes now appear on all specimen labels. Requires a standard barcode scanner that scan QR codes. Labels are 3" x 1" vinyl format.

Use this new icon to display the "command" code. Print this out for quick reference.

After scanning the "command" code, you can scan any of the QR codes that are displayed on the labels. Below is an example of what you are looking for on the labels.

What Changed:

  • QR codes now printed on all specimen labels (previously only available with break report integration enabled)
  • Two-step scanning process: scan command code, then scan specimen label
  • System automatically navigates to Daily Breaks page if you're working elsewhere
  • Auto-adjusts date and lab selection to match the scanned specimen
  • Auto-scroll to the specimen row with cursor placed in the load field
  • Expands specimen details drawer automatically
  • Notification shown if specimen not found in system

The Impact:

  • Eliminate scrolling through long lists of daily breaks (pages that could have 50+ specimens)
  • No manual typing of specimen numbers, dates, or lab selections
  • Faster data entry during break testing
  • Reduced errors from selecting wrong specimens or incorrect dates
  • Command code can be printed once and taped to break machine for repeated use
  • Works from anywhere in the system with automatic navigation

Available on:

  • All specimen label printing (no longer requires break report integration)
  • Any page within the site and it will automatically navigate you to the Daily Breaks page
  • Works with standard barcode scanners

Why This Change Matters:

  • Significant time savings – When breaking 50+ cylinders in a session, scan-and-go is much faster than search-and-scroll
  • Improved accuracy – Scanning eliminates manual entry errors for specimen numbers, dates, and lab selection
  • Simplified testing workflow – Lab technicians can focus on the physical testing rather than navigating software and adjusting settings
  • Flexible workflow – Start scanning from any page in the system and let it navigate you to the right place
  • One-time setup – Print the command barcode once, tape it to your break machine, and reuse it for every testing session
  • Universal access – QR codes now available on all specimen labels regardless of integration settings

Document Storage (R18) updates

We are excited to announce an update to how documents stored in the system can now be edited directly in your browser without downloading to your local machine. This includes creating new versions, editing content, and managing document revisions all within the platform. NOTE: This feature is available immediately in Document Storage for all document types including SOPs and routine review documents.

You can access this from the navigation under the section "Document Storage". If you do not have this option, please reach out to your account representative to have this enabled.

From the listing page - you will see any of the files you previously added to the system. You can either edit - by hovering over the row and clicking on the edit icon. If you need to add a new document, use the gear above the grid to the right and select "Add Document".

Once you are editing the document, you can use the controls at the top to allow format the document as needed. NOTE: This editing tool does not have all of the features you might expect from MS Word. If that is the case you can still download the document using the download icon in the upper right corner. From there you can edit the document in Word and re-upload into Omnant.

  • No more downloading documents to edit them locally
  • No need to re-upload edited documents as new versions
  • All editing and version control happens in one place
  • Version history automatically tracked in the system
  • Simplified workflow for documents requiring routine review

Available on:

  • Document Storage for all uploaded documents
  • SOPs and compliance documents

Equipment Tracking Updates

We've added new features to give you more flexibility in tracking equipment maintenance and usage.

Usage-Based Calibration Schedules

In addition to time-based frequencies, you can now set calibration and maintenance schedules based on equipment usage (hours or miles).

To set up:

  1. Go to Equipment > Equipment Types and select a type.
  2. Create a new maintenance/calibration schedule based on usage.
  3. Set your usage interval (e.g., check every 100 hours) and notification threshold (e.g., remind 15 hours before).
  4. Select Save, and the schedule becomes available for all equipment of that type.

Log Equipment Usage from Three Locations

Track usage hours or miles from:

  • Equipment List – Select equipment and click Create New to log date and hours.
  • Scan In/Out Page – Log usage when scanning equipment in or out.
  • My Schedule – Navigate to Scheduling > My Schedule. Once on this page, you can use the button labeled "Log Equipment Usage" in the upper right corner to log any usage that happened.

Usage automatically aggregates and displays as a percentage on the Equipment List. Once equipment reaches the tolerance range, it appears on the 'Reminders' tab for upcoming maintenance.

Equipment Notes & File Attachments

You can now store notes and upload files (manuals, certificates, photos) directly to individual pieces of equipment for centralized documentation. To do so, navigate to 'Equipment' -> 'Search' and find the piece of equipment that you would like to work with. Once on the edit page for that piece of equipment, you will see a new tab labeled 'Notes'.

Watch video about these enhancements >

Why These Changes Matter

  • More accurate maintenance scheduling – Track calibration needs based on actual equipment usage, not just time elapsed
  • Improved compliance – Meet industry requirements for usage-based calibration intervals (ASTM, AASHTO standards)
  • Reduced downtime – Proactive reminders ensure equipment is serviced before it's overdue
  • Better cost management – Avoid over-maintaining equipment that sees light use
  • Centralized documentation – Keep all equipment records, manuals, and certificates in one place

Standard Test Presets for Lab Samples

We've added the ability to create and use standard test presets when creating new lab samples to eliminate repetitive data entry for commonly tested sample types. Instead of manually adding individual tests each time you create a sample, you can now select from predefined test combinations that automatically populate your test list.

When creating a new lab sample, you'll find a Presets option alongside the existing manual test selection methods. These presets contain predefined combinations of tests. For example, a 'Standard Soil Testing' preset might include Proctor, Sieve Analysis, and Atterberg Limits tests. You can create, edit, and manage these presets through a dedicated interface that allows unlimited tests per preset and drag-and-drop reordering.

The system intelligently handles preset application: if you're starting with a blank sample, the preset replaces empty rows. If you've already added some tests manually, the preset appends additional tests while avoiding duplicates of tests already present.

A preset management interface shows all available presets in a searchable list, with quick access to edit existing presets or create new ones. The preset editor includes drag handles for reordering tests and supports any number of test methods per preset.

Watch video about this enhancement >

Why This Matters

  • Reduces repetitive entry: Apply multiple standard tests with one click
  • Improves consistency: Ensures standard test combinations are used correctly
  • Saves time: No more adding individual tests for common sample types
  • Flexible application: Works with both blank samples and partially filled forms
  • Prevents duplicates: Automatically skips tests already added to the sample
  • Easy management: Create and edit presets as your testing requirements evolve
