New! More Flexible Options for Equipment Calibration Schedules

Previously the calibrations / recurring maintenance on Equipment that was tracked in Omnant could only be scheduled to be reviewed on a monthly or yearly basis.

We have now updated the review frequencies, allowing for more flexibility, with the following options now available:

  • As Needed
  • Weekly

Below you will find screenshots on what this now looks like in the Maintenance Schedule!

How to use
✔ As Needed - Check the box directly below "Maintenance Companies".
✔ Weekly - Check the box "Review weekly" that's to the right of "Review Frequency"

For equipment that you have already documented in the system and wish to change, we recommend you spend the time to update & reflect with the new frequency options.

Weekend Time Off, Just a Click Away

We get it—during busy seasons, weekend work happens more often than we'd like to admit! While we’d all love that classic 9-to-5 schedule, sometimes it just doesn’t work out. Now, with a simple checkbox, users can easily request time off for the weekends, making it easier than ever to balance work and relaxation.

How to request time off on a weekend
Before this release, the system made it so that you couldn't request this time, even if you selected the time period between the Start Date and End Date.

Now, if you wish to request time off, you can check the square box underneath "Start Date" to include weekends in your request.
Note: If you don't select this box, but put the time period across a weekend in the date boxes, the request won't be valid and these days will automatically be removed from the system, so be sure to select the "Include Weekends in Request" box.

An improved design for lab sample testing

Introducing some enhancements that make managing lab testing samples more efficient and user-friendly, with a more visible layout and less navigation.

  1. Improved Visibility and Accessibility
You can now see key details—test name, method, assigned personnel, and attachments—at a glance. Editing access is also simplified, making it easier to manage testing information quickly and accurately.
  2. Better Layout, Less Navigation
The updated design makes it easier to distinguish between records in the unexpanded list, saving you time and clicks. No need to expand and collapse each item!
  3. Quick Access to Data and Reports
You can access data entry or view the PDF report in one click.
  4. Control over Test Details and Data Editing
Once testing data is entered, the test and method are locked in to ensure data integrity. However, you still have the flexibility to add or edit test data and view the report as needed.

We’d Love Your Feedback!
We’re excited to hear your thoughts on these improvements. Please share any feedback or suggestions on how these changes are working for you.

Introducing: a more intuitive lab status board!

We're rolling out more intuitive functionality so the Lab Status Board is a one-stop shop for managing your testing activities.

Key actions are now right at your fingertips on every sample card:

    • Enter test data & Add attachments: Technicians can start entering test data via the data entry icon on each card, and adding attachments is equally easy

    • Status Indicator Bar: A color bar on the left of each card indicates the time the sample has been in the status (gray, then yellow, then red for urgency).

    • Keep track of due dates: Easily set, adjust, and clear due dates, with color-coded indicators that show proximity to the due date.

    • Assign technicians: Assign tests to technicians directly from the status board by clicking on the assignment circle

    • Move samples: Use the arrow icon to move samples to the next status column, or select multiple tests to move at once.

...but wait, there's more!

The updated lab status board also features:

    • Quick search: An intuitive text-based search lets you find samples and tests in seconds -- no more Ctrl+F workaround

    • Filter by Technician: You can filter the sample cards to see assigned tests for one particular technician, or select multiple technicians by holding Ctrl from the filter dropdown.

    • Clearer view options: Choose how you see information with options to view by listing, calendar, or technician.

    • Efficient Layout: A streamlined layout provides more space and clarity on due dates

These updates bring everything together to make managing and completing tests faster and more efficient. We can’t wait for you to experience the improved board—let us know what you think!

Better notifications for scheduling requests from distribution users

We recognize the valuable relationship you have with your clients is built upon communication and coordination. Especially when they are requesting your inspectors to arrive at a job site -- receiving the request in a timely manner is critical to keep the project moving on schedule.

To facilitate better communication and coordination between you, your technicians, and your clients, we have increased the communications that are sent when a distribution user schedules an inspection request.

When a request is submitted, an email will go to the requestor as well as any manager on the project. It will be clear to your client that their request has been received but not confirmed.

To ensure your team has sufficient time to review and approve the request, the system requires at least 2 days’ notice. You will confirm the availability of a technician within Omnant as usual.

If you have more feedback about this feature, please let us know!

Shifting PDF generation behind the scenes

We recognized that occasionally when you were approving a report, there could be a wait time for the PDF to generate.

Instead of pausing your workflow, we have shifted the PDF generation process to happen behind the scenes.

You won’t need to wait for it to generate before moving on with your tasks.

We hope this makes your approval workflows ever more efficient!
